Privacy Policy / Terms of Use

Effective date: August 12, 2026

SafetyBots™ (“SafetyBots,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the website https://www.safetybots.org and related tools (the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices available to you.

If you do not agree with this Policy, do not use the Service.

1. Who this Policy covers

This Policy applies to:

  • parents and legal guardians who create an account or request a SafetyBots Check-Up;

  • visitors to our website; and

  • information we process in order to run a Check-Up on social-media handles a parent or guardian submits.

The Service is intended for use by adults who are the parent or legal guardian of the child whose accounts are being checked. It is not directed to children.

2. What SafetyBots is designed to do

SafetyBots provides limited, parent-requested checks of social-media exposure. Depending on the Check-Up requested, we may assess:

  • whether a submitted account appears public or private;

  • whether a submitted handle appears to exist;

  • whether publicly visible follower/following information suggests potentially risky accounts; and

  • whether a phone number appears on a publicly visible profile.

We design these checks to use information that is already publicly visible, or that a parent or guardian has authorized us to review. We do not ask for a child’s password. We do not log in to a child’s account. We do not read private messages, photos, or other non-public content.

3. Information we collect

A. Information you give us

  • Parent or guardian account information, such as name, email address, phone number, password or authentication data, and billing information if you purchase a paid plan.

  • Guardian confirmation information, such as statements or documents you provide to confirm that you are the parent or legal guardian of the child whose handles you submit.

  • Child-related identifiers you submit, such as social-media platform names and handles. We ask you not to submit the child’s legal name. If you include a child’s name, date of birth, school, address, or other extra details, we will treat that information as personal information and handle it under this Policy.

  • Support communications, including emails, form submissions, and feedback.

  • Preferences, such as notification settings and conversation-resource choices.

B. Information we collect when we run a Check-Up

When you authorize a Check-Up, we may collect:

  • the platform and handle you submitted;

  • publicly available profile signals needed to complete the requested checks, such as whether a profile page loads, whether content is publicly visible, publicly displayed bio text, publicly visible contact details, and, where publicly available, limited follower or following information;

  • timestamps, Check-Up status, and the yes/no or “unable to determine” results shown in your dashboard; and

  • technical logs needed to operate, debug, and secure the Check-Up.

If a profile is private or a platform blocks the check, we may record only that the result could not be determined.

C. Information collected automatically

When you visit the site or use the dashboard, we may collect:

  • IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring URL, and pages viewed;

  • date and time of visits;

  • approximate general location derived from IP address; and

  • cookies or similar technologies, as described below.

D. Information we do not seek to collect

We do not intend to collect:

  • a child’s legal name;

  • a child’s password or login credentials;

  • private messages, direct messages, private posts, Close Friends content, or other non-public account content;

  • precise geolocation of a child; or

  • biometric identifiers.

If our systems unexpectedly receive any of the above, we will delete it as soon as reasonably practicable unless we are required to retain it by law.

4. How we use information

We use information to:

  • create and maintain your account;

  • verify, to the extent reasonably possible, that you are a parent or legal guardian authorized to request a Check-Up;

  • perform the Check-Up you requested and generate your confidential dashboard report;

  • provide guidance and resources that help you talk with your child about online safety;

  • operate, secure, debug, and improve the Service;

  • communicate with you about your account, Check-Ups, security issues, and product updates;

  • process payments and prevent fraud;

  • comply with law, respond to lawful requests, and protect children, users, or the public from harm; and

  • create de-identified or aggregated statistics that do not identify a particular parent or child.

We do not use a child’s handle or Check-Up results to advertise to that child. We do not sell personal information.

5. Children’s privacy

SafetyBots is a tool for parents and legal guardians. We do not knowingly allow children to create accounts.

Guardian representation: We provide Check-Ups only because a parent or legal guardian represents that they have the authority to submit a child’s social-media handles. We rely on that representation. Except where we use a limited adult-identity check, we do not independently verify that the person submitting a handle is the parent or guardian of that child.  If we believe a Check-Up was requested without authority, we may refuse to run it, delete the submitted handles and results from the requester’s dashboard, and retain only the limited information needed to prevent repeat misuse, protect a child, or comply with law.

We may process a social-media handle or other limited identifier associated with a child only because a parent or legal guardian submitted it and authorized a Check-Up.

We treat that information as sensitive.  If you believe we have collected information about a child without proper parental authorization, contact us here. We will investigate and delete the information unless we are legally required to keep it.If the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) or another child-privacy law applies to a particular piece of information, we will collect, use, and retain that information only as permitted by that law and only for the Check-Up and safety purposes described in this Policy.

6. Legal bases for processing

If you are in a jurisdiction that requires a legal basis for processing, we rely on one or more of the following:

  • performing our contract with you;

  • our legitimate interests in operating a secure parental-safety tool, preventing fraud, and improving the Service, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights;

  • your consent, where we ask for it; and

  • compliance with legal obligations, including child-protection and law-enforcement requirements.

7. How we share information

We may share information with:

  • Service providers that help us host the website, send email, process payments, provide security, store data, or operate Check-Ups. These providers may access information only to perform work for us and must protect it.

  • Law enforcement, child-protection organizations, or other authorities when we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law or is reasonably necessary to protect a child or prevent serious harm.

  • Professional advisors, such as lawyers, accountants, and insurers.

  • A buyer or successor if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets. We will require the recipient to continue to protect personal information as described in this Policy.

We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

We do not publish Check-Up results. Results are available only in the requesting parent or guardian’s confidential dashboard, unless that person chooses to share them.

8. How long we keep information

We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this Policy, including:

  • Account information: while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward.

  • Submitted handles and Check-Up results: for [90 days / 12 months / the life of the account — choose one], unless you delete them sooner or we must keep them longer.

  • Security and server logs: typically [30–90 days], unless needed for an investigation.

  • Billing records: as required by tax and accounting laws.

When we no longer need personal information, we delete it or de-identify it.

9. Security

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information, including access controls, encryption in transit, and limited employee access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

If we become aware of a data breach that requires notice, we will notify affected users and regulators as required by law.

10. Your choices and rights

You may:

  • access or update account information in your dashboard (when those become available);

  • correct a handle or request that a Check-Up result be deleted;

  • close your account;

  • opt out of non-essential product emails; and

  • request a copy or deletion of personal information we hold about you.

Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to know, access, correct, delete, or port personal information, or to appeal a denial of those rights.

To make a request, contact us here. We will need enough information to verify that you are the account holder or authorized guardian. We will not honor a request from a third party who cannot prove that authority.

We will not discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights.

11. Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to:

  • keep you signed in;

  • remember preferences;

  • understand how the site is used; and

  • protect the Service against abuse.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. If you block certain cookies, parts of the Service may not work.If we use analytics tools, they may collect usage information on our behalf. We will list any such providers here: [Google Analytics / Wix analytics].

12. Third-party sites and platforms

A Check-Up may involve visiting publicly available pages on third-party platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, or others you designate. Those platforms have their own terms and privacy policies. SafetyBots does not control those services.

Our website may also link to resources from organizations such as NCMEC, Thorn, or other safety groups. Those links are for information only.

13. International visitors

We are based in the United States and process information in the United States and any other countries where our service providers operate. If you use the Service from another country, you understand that your information may be transferred to the United States, which may have different data-protection rules than your country.

14. Do Not Track

Some browsers send “Do Not Track” signals. There is no common standard for responding to those signals. We treat your choices as described in this Policy.

15. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you by email or through the Service. Continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised Policy.

Terms of Use

Terms of Use

Parent or guardian representation. The Service is available only to adults who are the parent or legal guardian of the child whose social-media handles they submit. By creating an account, submitting a handle, or requesting a Check-Up, you represent and warrant that:

  1. you are at least 18 years old;

  2. you are the parent or legal guardian of the child associated with each handle you submit; and

  3. you are requesting the Check-Up solely for that child’s safety and not to monitor, locate, harass, or investigate anyone else’s child.

SafetyBots relies on this representation. We do not independently verify that you are the parent or guardian of the child whose handles you provide, and an identity check, if used, only helps confirm that an adult is operating the account.

We may refuse, delay, suspend, or delete any account, handle, Check-Up, or report if we believe, in our discretion, that the request is unauthorized, inaccurate, abusive, or submitted by someone who is not the child’s parent or legal guardian. We may also preserve limited records of that action when we believe it is necessary to protect a child, another user, or the Service, or to comply with law.
