OUR MISSION: HELP PARENTS PROTECT CHILDREN
FROM ONLINE PREDATORS
SafetyBots™ is an easy-to-use digital tool that lets parents know if their child is potentially vulnerable to strangers online. SafetyBots uses proprietary technology to anonymously and safely diagnose key indicators of social media vulnerability.
CONCERNED ABOUT WHO YOUR CHILD MIGHT BE EXPOSED TO ON SOCIAL MEDIA? SAFETY BOTS CAN HELP.
PROTECTING CHILDREN & THEIR MENTAL HEALTH
10% of tweens and 21% of teens encountered predatory behaviors from someone online.*
There was a 97.5% increase in online enticement reports in 2021.**
Even when there is no physical encounter, online predation and sextortion significantly damage the mental health of children, worsening depression, suicidal ideation, anxiety, and self-harm.
HOW SAFETYBOTS™ WORKS
1. At sign-up, parents confirm their identity (as guardian), confidentially enter the social media handles of their child (but not the child's name), and authorize a SafetyBots Check-Up.
2. Do-no-harm SafetyBots are deployed to check on the child's social media exposure. SafetyBots evaluate three Risk Factors:
-
A) if the child's social media accounts are public or private. Instagram and TikTok now make under-16 accounts private by default. And Facebook predicts 80% of these young users will remain in the default private setting.
But that number is just a guess. And, in reality, some children are adept at masking the actual setting from their parents, i.e. toggling between the settings to placate parents who might ask to see their phone.
-
B) if the child is following, or being followed by, suspicious accounts.
-
C) if the child shares a cell phone number on their social media. 20% of teens share their cell phone number on their social media accounts. Cell phone numbers can add to vulnerability by becoming potential routes for predators, in terms of offline texting and image sharing.
Evaluating the three Risk Factors above constitutes Phase One of the SafetyBots solution. In Phase Two, automated do-no-harm SafetyBots will diagnose two additional Risk Factors:
-
E) if the child allows strangers to follow or befriend their social media account (thereby allowing the stranger to see all posted information and images).
-
F) if the child exchanges basic greetings with a stranger. If the child gets a "hello" message, do they respond? SafetyBots will employ nothing more than a "hello" or "hi" in its outreach, and this is, of course, a very rudimentary "communication." But just that hello is enough to see if the child responds. Knowing if they engage is an important piece of information for parents to have, because simple and innocent interactions like this are one of the gambits predators use. And it only takes 8 minutes for a predator to form a bond with a child.***
3. Results + Providing Parental Intelligence. Parents then receive a confidential and easy-to-understand SafetyBots Check-Up report on their dashboard.
4. Equipped with this parental intelligence, parents can then begin to have the important conversations with their children about online safety. SafetyBots™ provides additional guidance and resources for having these conversations and taking next steps.
PROVIDING
PARENTAL INTELLIGENCE
THE ADVANTAGE:
SAFETYBOTS GIVES YOU YES OR NO ANSWERS
Many of the "parental control" apps that pursue universal content monitoring are terrific.
But some parents feel that those apps can be prone to data overload.
We're focused on clear and simple assessments that directly gauge if your child is potentially vulnerable. We generate yes or no answers regarding the Risk Factors. The assessment of vulnerability is literally explained in simple green and red checkmarks.
